Imperfections from Sun Damage and Photo-aging
IPL technology helps create smoother-looking skin. After a series of treatments,
you can see a significant reduction of unwanted pigmentation.
Broken Veins and Capillaries
The face has an extensive network of veins and tiny blood vessels called capillaries.
Over time, aging, trauma, sun exposure, and certain lifestyle factors cause a number
of them to break appearing as red streaks or blotches on the face. IPL therapy can
eliminate damaged veins and capillaries by removing virtually all traces of these
unsightly blemishes.
A cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and you will be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth glass surface of the IPL hand-piece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of light are applied.
You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band.
The appearance right after treatment is similar to what you will see after a good exercise workout.
The flushing and redness will last up to several hours after treatment. If you have a lot of activity
in your skin (pigment or capillaries) you may experience some swelling. The brown age spots
and uneven pigmentation will turn darker after treatment.
The pigment (melanin) present in the hair follicles of your skin will absorb the light, this light turns into heat, allowing it to loosen the hair follicle and the cells are disabled which are responsible for the growth of new hair. Thus IPL can treat thousands of hair follicle in just one shot.
IPL treatment works on hair follicles when they are in the growth (or anagen) cycle at the time
of treatment. Unfortunately, not all hair follicles are at this stage at the same time. Therefore,
for effective permanent hair removal, most people require approximately five to eight treatments
to achieve the desired results.
Results vary depending on skin and hair type. Studies have shown that many patients can achieve permanent hair loss of up to 85-90% and remaining hair returns lighter and softer.
